Summer 23...Singapore, LA, Phoenix, Atlanta
I am presently in Los Angeles at the end of my summer break. Last week I had the privilege to be at the NBA Academy Games in Atlanta. Our Indian team wasn’t able to be there this year, but I coached an International select team of players from many different countries. (France, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Spain, Netherlands, England, Iceland, Latvia) After only 2 practices, we improved during the week and ended up defeating the teams from our NBA Latin American and African Academies.
Before returning to the U.S. in May our Indian Academy participated in the NBA Asian Player Development Camp in Singapore. There were players from all over Asia and the Middle East. Our team performed well, only losing one game. Beyond the competition it was a special time of seeing good friends and meeting many new ones. Singapore is a very unique and beautiful country.
While in the U.S. we spent most of our time in Phoenix and Los Angeles. Some highlights: I took my grandson to the Grand Canyon University basketball camp while participating on the camp coaching staff. The two of us also had a great time at the Guardians vs. Diamondbacks game in Phoenix. We also fit in a fishing outing. In LA, my son and I were able to attend a Laker’s playoff game.
I will return to India this month and jump right in to training our NBA Academy players. Minus my time away during Covid, I have now been in India over 7 years. This includes almost 3 years as the National Coach and most recently working for the NBA. My time in India has profoundly impacted my life, as well as my family.
As the years go by, I add to this mailing group, as more people come into my life. Most of you are in the basketball community and have made a positive impact on me in some way. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
